Author Guidelines

The Journal of Strategy and Performance Management (JSPM) welcomes high-quality submissions that contribute to scholarly understanding and professional practice in the areas of strategy, performance management, and organizational governance.

JSPM is a peer-reviewed, open-access, international journal published on a biannual, issue-based schedule.

Scope Alignment (Read Before Submitting)

Manuscripts submitted to JSPM must fall clearly within the journal’s scope and demonstrate relevance to strategy, performance management, or governance in organizational contexts.

Submissions that are purely descriptive, opinion-based, or promotional in nature will not be considered.

Types of Contributions

1. Research Articles

Original scholarly contributions based on empirical, conceptual, or review-based research.

Expected characteristics:

  • Clear research question or objective

  • Appropriate methodology or conceptual framework

  • Engagement with relevant literature

  • Explicit contribution to theory and/or practice

Recommended length: 6,000–8,000 words (including references)

2. Practice & Policy Papers

Structured practitioner-oriented contributions that offer analytically grounded insights derived from real-world strategy, performance, or governance initiatives.

Mandatory structure:

  • Organizational or policy context

  • Problem or challenge addressed

  • Conceptual or theoretical grounding

  • Approach, intervention, or framework applied

  • Outcomes, reflections, and transferable lessons

Recommended length: 4,000–6,000 words

3. Case Studies (Analytical)

In-depth analyses of real organizational cases. Teaching notes or purely narrative cases are not accepted.

Requirements:

  • Clear analytical focus

  • Discussion of decision logic and outcomes

  • Integration with relevant concepts or frameworks

  • Recommended length: 4,000–6,000 words

4. Perspective / Position Papers

Thought-provoking contributions from experienced scholars or senior practitioners presenting a clear argument or viewpoint relevant to the journal’s scope.

Recommended length: 3,000–4,000 words
(Published selectively at the discretion of the editors.)

Manuscript Preparation

Language

  • Manuscripts must be submitted in English

  • Authors are responsible for language quality and clarity

Formatting

  • File format: Microsoft Word (.doc or .docx)

  • Font: Times New Roman, 12-point

  • Spacing: Double-spaced

  • Margins: 1 inch on all sides

  • Pages numbered consecutively

Structure

Manuscripts should normally include:

  1. Title page (submitted separately)

  2. Abstract (150–200 words)

  3. Keywords (4–6)

  4. Main text

  5. References

  6. Appendices (if applicable)

Referencing Style

JSPM follows the APA referencing style (latest edition).

Authors are responsible for the accuracy and completeness of all references.

Title Page (Submitted Separately)

To ensure double-blind peer review, the title page must be uploaded as a separate file and include:

  • Title of the manuscript

  • Author name(s)

  • Institutional affiliation(s)

  • ORCID iD (if available)

  • Corresponding author’s email address

The main manuscript file must not contain any identifying information.

Peer Review Process

All submissions undergo:

  1. Initial editorial screening for scope, quality, and compliance with guidelines

  2. Double-blind peer review by at least two reviewers

Practice-oriented submissions are evaluated for:

  • Analytical rigor

  • Conceptual grounding

  • Relevance and transferability

The Editor-in-Chief makes the final publication decision.

Publication Frequency

JSPM is published biannually:

  • Issue 1: January–June

  • Issue 2: July–December

Accepted articles are scheduled for publication in the next available issue.

Open Access & Fees

The Journal of Strategy and Performance Management is an open-access journal.

  • All published articles are freely accessible

  • No submission or publication fees are charged at this time

Ethics & Originality

By submitting a manuscript, authors confirm that:

  • The work is original and not under consideration elsewhere

  • Proper acknowledgment of sources has been made

  • Ethical standards in research and publication have been followed

Plagiarism, data fabrication, or unethical practices will result in rejection.
